Job Advert
Consultant Physician Acute and General Medicine
NHS Lanarkshire - University Hospital Monklands
University Hospital Monklands (UHM) is looking for a Consultant Physician in Acute & General Medicine to join its existing team, currently made up of three Acute Physicians, General Physicians with sub-specialty interests, and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
The department has redesigned its Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) processes, enabling it to take forward a number of exciting new ‘front door’ developments including the establishment of an Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) unit.
The Acute Physicians are well supported by Physician of the Day and dedicated Physician of the Week models, alongside Specialist Nurses in MAU. Excellent support is also provided by nursing and medical colleagues in the Emergency Department.
The successful applicants will participate in the acute rota which is variable and flexible depending on the commitments of the team, and will also participate in the Physician of the Week/Day and weekend on-call rotas.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic individuals who are keen to contribute to the ongoing development of services. Sub-specialty clinical interests are welcome and will be supported.
It is an exciting time to join UHM with the location of our new hospital now identified. This will be Scotland’s first digital hospital which, through the use of available technologies, will enhance the patient journey and staff experience. Clinical staff are actively encouraged to contribute to the development of the clinical models to support the planning of the new hospital.
