job purpose/about the role

The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the strategic leadership of the ACHSCP. They will maximise the potential of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the best possible outcomes for the people of Aberdeen. The post holder will work with partners across the public, private and third sectors to ensure the delivery of the ACHSCP’s Strategic Plan including the implementation of transformative initiatives. The Chief Operating Officer will deputise for the Chief Officer of the Integrated Joint Board and Portfolio Lead for NHS Grampian’s Medicine and Unscheduled Care Portfolio. These two roles are currently performed by one person


The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

A degree together with a post graduate leadership or management qualification is desirable

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

Outstanding Communication Skills including the ability to communicate complex and potentially contentious information in a way that is tailored to the needs of a variety of audiences including to the NHS Grampian Board, Aberdeen City Council, and its committees and to the Integrated Joint Board.

Remain calm under pressure and to execute sound decisions quickly.
