Applications are invited for a substantive Thoracic Consultant Surgeon.  Cardiothoracic surgery in the West of Scotland is provided solely for a population of 2.2 million in the West of Scotland Heart & Lung Centre at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital.  

The full range of outpatient and inpatient facilities are provided on site with a network of outreach clinics & multidisciplinary meetings supporting regional and local care. The hospital additionally is the national base for the three National Services - Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Service, Scottish Advanced Heart Failure and Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Units with a ward dedicated to the care of the patients.

The unit performs all aspects of Thoracic surgery including minimally invasive, pectus surgery, lung volume reduction techniques and complex oncological surgery. As part of the minimal access program, the unit is a high volume robotic centre. All surgeons are expected to have access to the robot theatre. Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for admission to the register within 6 months of the interview date.
