Due to the changes in practice within unscheduled care settings within Forth Valley we are looking for highly motivated staff who will contribute in an exciting opportunity to shape the future of unscheduled care services as we continue to expand and develop the current Advanced Nurse Practitioner workforce.

An Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) / Advanced Practitioner is an experienced and highly educated Registered Nurse or Registered Health Care professional who manages the complete clinical care for their patient, not solely any specific condition.  As a clinical leader they have the freedom and authority to act and accept the responsibility and accountability for those actions. This level of practice is characterised by high level autonomous decision making, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment including prescribing, of patients with complex multi-dimensional problems. Decisions are made using high level expert, knowledge and skills. This includes the authority to refer, admit and discharge within appropriate clinical areas.

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced nurses/ paramedic or suitable qualified health care professionals who will embrace the challenge of this dynamic role. They will provide direct patient management and have sound clinical knowledge and highly developed clinical decision-making skills. All applicants should possess the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, remain focused, work across professional boundaries and be flexible in an extremely busy environment.

We will offer a flexible working pattern and successful candidates can choose to work Out of Hours or have a combination of working Out of Hours and within the hours of the Urgent Care Centre from 0800-2000

Essential Qualifications for band 7:

  • HEI accredited Independent Prescribing Qualification - V300
  • HEI accredited Clinical Examination & history taking course
  • HEI accredited clinical decision-making module

Highly Desirable

  • Paediatric assessment experience
  • Minor illness / minor injuries
  • Previous advanced practice experience
  • Telephone Triage experience

Applicants should have or be working towards the following skills / qualifications

  • Post graduate diploma in advanced practice

We will also consider applications for trainee posts Annex 21 and will support the development of individuals to meet advanced practice competencies through the triangulation approach of academic courses, mentorship and clinical supervision. Applicants for trainee posts should have demonstrated evidence of undertaking courses relevant to the advanced practice pathway.
