The 14 floor ,  is one of the largest acute hospitals in the and home to major specialist services such as renal medicine, transplantation and vascular surgery, with state-of-the-art Critical Care, Theatre and Diagnostic Services. The adult hospital features 1,109 patient rooms and is integrated with the children’s hospital which has 244 paediatric beds with a further 12 neonatal beds in the maternity unit next door.

The children’s hospital provides a large number of specialist services to the West of Scotland and the wider population of in addition to the full range of secondary care services to people of Greater Glasgow and . Specialist services include: cardiology and cardiac surgery, renal and bone marrow transplantation. For a number of these services, the children’s hospital is recognised as the sole provider in .

We are looking for a suitably qualified, highly motivated and proactive registered Pharmacy Technician to join the senior management team at QEUH/RHC where you will contribute to the operational management, planning, co-ordination, assessment and delivery of clinical pharmacy services.

Our pharmacy team are valued members of the wider multidisciplinary teams where we work collaboratively and compassionately with all services and service users to provide integrated, high quality, person centered pharmacy care and services to all.

You must be confident to work independently and as part of a team interchangeably. You will have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills as you will provide day to day leadership and support for our large and friendly pharmacy team. This post is an excellent opportunity for individuals wanting to develop their skills in leadership and management as we encourage and support staff development via local and national training programs and appraisals as well as providing you with opportunities to use your own initiative to promote CPD.

This position will support your personal development and provide you with the opportunity to facilitate the innovation of clinical pharmacy services in line with the pharmacy strategy and vision. You will work with a team who strive to develop hospital pharmacy services using quality improvement methodology to demonstrate service improvement.

Applicants must be registered with The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have an accredited dispensary checking technician qualification (PDCT).

You will have a minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience and a broad understanding of a range of technical practice and staff management. This can be experience of managing junior members of staff (e.g. as a deputy)

You must be able to demonstrate an ability to lead and motivate a team. You must have good IT skills, working towards or achieved an HNC in pharmacy services or equivalent management qualification and either be a practicing SVQ work based assessor or working towards.

Your hours will be worked Monday to Friday with participation in weekend working, extended hours service and public holiday working.
