Building Digital Skills and Leadership Programme – Digital Workforce Specialist Lead

Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is an education and training body and a special health board within NHS Scotland with responsibility for developing and delivering education and training for the healthcare workforce in Scotland.
The Digitally Enabled Workforce (DEW) team are based in different locations across Scotland and work remotely. DEW are a dynamic, fast-paced team who enjoy what they do. DEW are focused, agile, self-organised, and thrive on making a difference and delivering results.
The DEW team are collectively responsible for the delivery of a programme of work aligned to Scotland’s Digital Health and Care Strategy and Care in the Digital Age delivery plan.
The Role
The success of digital transformation is entirely reliant on people knowing when, why, and how to use technology, systems, and data. Workplace digital and data skills comprise the knowledge and confidence needed to undertake everyday activities whilst realising the full potential of technology and data relevant to the persons role.
As the Digital Workforce Specialist Lead you will join the DEW team and have a direct impact on upskilling the healthcare workforce. You will support the creation of a new centralised online learner experience platform for digital and data skills, and take ownership of the national digital and data learning resources within this platform. You will also lead on work to develop digital champions across health and social care, growing local, regional, and national digital champion networks, creating digital champion learning pathways, and supporting organisations to create and run their own digital champion programmes.
This new and exciting role requires an individual who understands user-centred design and ensures that deliverables are always seen through the lens of the learner. You must be creative and driven, with exceptional organisational skills, whilst able to take an analytical approach when required. An excellent communicator and influencer you will demonstrate initiative and show your creativity in finding solutions to problems, working across organisational boundaries to develop positive and productive relationships that balance a wide range of stakeholder needs.
What you’ll be doing
- The sharing of a curated collection of digital skills resources on an easily accessible digital learning platform, supporting the development or implementation of this platform as required
- Responsible for content discovery, identifying and managing all of the resources and materials shared within the learning platform
- Ensuring these resources are providing the healthcare workforce with the digital and data skills learning materials they need through a learner-focused approach
- Facilitating design meetings/workshops with subject matter experts and users to translate learner needs into innovative learning content for the platform
- Making connections with learning and development networks across the sector to avoid duplication of resources and enable co-design and sharing approaches for resources
- Supporting health and care organisations in the creation and running of digital champions programmes and linking these programmes into wider digital champion networks
What you’ll bring
- Understanding of user-centred design and of learning solutions design
- Excellent communication skills and experience of developing learning resources in a virtual environment
- An ability to build relationships, positively influence and work constructively with stakeholders from across social care, social work, housing, and health organisations
- A flexible and innovative approach to solving problems
- Experience of working to understand and bridge workplace digital skills gaps, and to develop a digitally enabled workforce
- Knowledge of the positive impact digital champions can have in the workplace, and experience of setting up and working with digital champions programmes
- Motivation, creativity, energy, and a positive approach to work
