An exciting opportunity has arisen within our busy Surgical Emergency assessment ward for a full time ward assistant.

Our ward is 27 bedded area & also has a Surgical Ambulatory Clinic within the unit which is operational Monday-Friday. The Ward and Clinic are fast paced environments and provides excellent emergency care, We are currently looking for a ward assistant to join our friendly & hardworking team who work closely together to look after a wide variety of ill patients and their families. So, If you are caring, motivated, keen to learn and develop new skills working within Surgical emergency care, and looking for a new challenge, then we would like to hear from you.

The post holder will be able to coordinate a range of activities to assist in maintaining the Unit as a safe and clean working environment for both patients and staff.  The role will include ensuring the Unit is kept clean, tidy and well stocked, and all aspects of the ward housekeeping are in order. Being involved in local audit and ensuring the safety / maintenance of a range of equipment will also be part of your role, reporting incidents to estates.  You may also be required to provide care to patients including transporting them within the site, and assist the staff to clean and set up bed spaces to help ensure the unit is ready to receive any new admissions. Candidates must have excellent IT skills, the introduction of digital ward system requires majority of tasks to be completed using IT. Experience with NHSG Track care/ PMS system and PECOS ordering would be essential, however training can be provided for candidates.

Educational opportunities will be available to all new staff, and ongoing support will be provided by our Divisional Practice Education colleagues, and our staff team.  You will be required to work predominantly Monday to Friday dayshift, but may be asked to change shifts to support the needs of the Unit during periods of increased clinical activity.
