Summary of the Post

The appointee/s will provide consultant leadership as part of a committed senior medical team in Cardiology of 3 full time consultants and additional rotational consultant input from the Golden Jubilee Hospital.

Participation in the general medical rota would be desirable in applicants who are dual accredited. Sub-specialty interests are encouraged and will be supported within GG&C and the job plan.

The elements that currently compose DCC in the cardiology job plans are ward cover (J South), CCU cover, ward referrals, supervision of outpatient investigations, echocardiography, implantation of LINQ recorders, TOE, PPM insertion and cardioversion. We would be very keen to explore any particular requests or interests expressed by applicants.

There is an ongoing interest within the department for support of junior doctors and supervision of a Clinical Fellow with an interest in Echocardiography. Many of the consultants have experience in support and induction of international graduate colleagues into the NHS, and welcoming them to our hospital.

There is an established Heart Failure Liaison service and interest into developing an ambulatory heart failure pathway for the area. In addition there is a current recruitment drive to appoint and develop the role of Cardiology ANPs across Clyde.
