Infrastructure Technical Analyst

Infrastructure Technical Services are provided across three distinct service areas detailed below and this technical specialist role is within the Desktop management & Application Provision team although tasks can span across all infrastructure teams.
Windows servers, virtualisation and storage: - the virtualised server management infrastructure includes over 1000 Windows servers, some linux servers and various software appliances. Data management including storage, backup and recovery as well as VM management at server level.
Active Directory & Device Management: - Tens of thousands of users and devices are managed via Active Directory and Microsoft Networking services (DNS/DHCP). Additional management tools are used for patching, encryption, endpoint protection, AD disaster recovery and archiving.
Desktop management & Application Provision: - NHSGG&C has over 800 applications ranging from Microsoft products to bespoke software, the vast majority of which are packaged and distributed centrally utilising application virtualisation and SCCM technology including a large VDI environment (VMWare Horizon) and desktop imaging using Microsoft Configuration Manager. Group Policy management, desktop builds and windows performance will also be managed and supported in this area.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in supporting and maintaining the groups of technologies listed below.
 Application packaging, sequencing and deployment using tools such as App-V, SCCM, InstallShield/Wise Software Package Studio, RayPack, Orca, Group Policy management
 Scripting (PowerShell, VBS, BAT etc)

Investigative software such as ProcMon and similar tools monitoring at the O/S level
 Some exposure to VDI technology preferably VMware Horizon
The successful candidate should also have the following Behavioural Competencies
 Resolve complex problems working in a high pressure situation.
 Communicate clearly about technical equipment and problems with non-technical users.
 Work closely with other Infrastructure staff and 3rd parties and collaborate with project teams.
 Exposure to IT within the Health Service would be advantageous
