Applications are invited for the post of a Locum Consultant Vascular Surgeon appointment to the East of Scotland Vascular Network (ESVN). The post will be based in NHS Fife with work being carried out across the ESVN. This post is for a fixed term of 6 months.
Vascular services for NHS Tayside and NHS Fife have been delivered through the East of Scotland Vascular Network since 2002. The successful candidate will join the current 8 NHS Consultant Surgeons within ESVN. You will be expected to perform clinical duties within NHS Tayside and NHS Fife. The on-call rota is anticipated to be 1 in 7.5 with prospective cover for holidays and study leave. Surgical work will mainly be on call emergency cover and will be for vascular surgical conditions only however some elective work will be available. On call and inpatient work will be carried out in Ninewells Hospital. The majority of the outpatient and daycase activities associated with this post will be based in NHS Fife, although the postholder is required to be able to work flexibly across the network as service requirements dictate.
The ESVN carries out a wide range of open and endovascular surgical procedures. There is an established endovascular aneurysm service deploying both fenestrated and conventional stent grafts jointly with radiology. Renal access surgery, surveillance and maintenance are well developed. Amputation rehabilitation and limb fitting are supported by a dedicated physiotherapy team. The Network has a strong commitment to both undergraduate and postgraduate training.
