Full-time salary inclusive of out of hours allowance is between £1,319.21 - £1,413.44 per week per annum (pro rata if applicable).

The Role

Clinical Development Fellow posts are aimed at post foundation doctors at ST1 or ST2 level who have completed a foundation medical training programme and can demonstrate foundation competencies (or equivalent).   You may be seeking further experience of an acute specialty (particularly general and acute medicine, medicine for the elderly and emergency medicine) or general psychiatry in which you have a longer term interest (e.g. future entry into specialty or general practice training), or to provide a professional development supplement to support other career options longer term.   This post is not a recognised training grade but may be the right opportunity for you to develop and evidence clinical and professional competence to assist overall CV development.

You will have the opportunity to experience over 12 months a range of experience as we can offer both a rotation combining two or more specialties or a stand-alone post in a single  specialty.  The specialties include general & acute medicine / medicine for the elderly / emergency medicine / orthopaedics and trauma / general surgery / haematology / palliative medicine and psychiatry.

You will work under appropriate supervision within the clinical teams to develop your skills, and provide a proportion of out of hours activity including a contribution to the contribution to the intermediate Hospital at Night Team rota, out of hours psychiatry rota or night duty Emergency Department rota

In combination with the clinical component, the development component of this post is flexible according to your specific needs, level of experience and career interest.  An educational supervisor (a senior clinician) will be appointed to support you to formulate a Personal Development Plan.  Opportunities will exist for experience in
(specifically in Simulation), Management and Leadership, Clinical Skills and Quality Improvement. This time should equate to approximately one day per week during most weeks.
