Surveillance Operational Manager for Infection Prevention and Control Team.

Why not consider an opportunity to work as Surveillance Operational Manager within NHSCCG Infection Prevention and Control Team?  Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is a high priority for the NHS in Scotland. The IPC Team aims to ensure the provision of a safe environment, which minimizes the risk of infection to patients, residents, staff and visitors.  The Surveillance Team within the IPC Department provide a service throughout NHS GG&C Services and Care Homes.  You will act as the lead resource in the management and delivery of the surveillance service within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and responsible for the day to day operational management of the service. You will be the line manager responsible for the data managers/team & IPC Advanced Healthcare Scientist and will provide leadership to all surveillance team members.  You will initiate, manage, facilitate and co-ordinate the local and national surveillance programmes affiliated with the Infection Control Department, and the Board as a whole, and direct the Advanced Healthcare Scientist and data team to provide data for critical analysis and assessment. This encompasses presentation of detailed, highly complex statistical and epidemiological information on infection rates to all levels of clinical staff and board directors and other senior managerial staff throughout NHSGG&C. To comply with Scottish Government targets /objectives, You will be responsible in conjunction, with the Advanced Healthcare Scientist, for co-ordinating the production of surveillance data reports submitted to the NHS Board, Clinical and Care Governance Committee and the IPC Governance Groups as required. You will also be required to use new technologies and methodologies to develop local surveillance systems and processes.  Leading the surveillance team requires continual liaison with professionals out with the immediate team including senior clinical staff, senior management, specialist nurses, members of the multidisciplinary team and external organisations (ARHAI, HIS, Scottish Government) on all aspects of the surveillance programme.  You will be required to review and present on some occasions highly contentious information, providing precise and timely local feedback of surveillance results in a usable and understandable format, sometimes with considerable time constraints, which can be used to evaluate levels of local clinical service and act as a positive driver to implement change where required, to improve patient care/outcomes. The service will be in compliance with NHS Scotland HIS Infection Prevention and Control Standards (2022), NHS Scotland Mandatory Surveillance Programme and NIPCM.  If successful, you will be the lead surveillance contributor to the development and implementation of the Annual Infection Control Programme, IPC Workplan and Annual Report which is scrutinised and approved by the NHSGG&C Control of Infection Committee, Clinical Care Governance Committee, the Board Clinical Governance Forum, the NHS Board and the Chief Executive.  Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.   NHS GGC is an equal opportunities employer and as committed participant in the disability confident scheme, guarantees to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for our vacancies   For an informal discussion please contact Sandra Devine on 07984 005 021. Closing date for completed applications is 2 weeks from advertising.
