JOB TITLE: General Practice Nurse
HOURS: Full/part time. Negotiable but must include at least part of Mondays and Fridays
SALARY: Negotiable - depending upon experience
As a result of one of our practice nurses reducing their contracted hours, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated GPN to join our existing small team of 2 nurses and a healthcare assistant. You will work collaboratively within the team to provide safe and effective nursing care to circa 11,500 patients
Applicants must be NMC registered and will ideally have experience in practice nursing, however we would also like to hear from candidates who may not have exactly the right experience but are committed to a career in general practice as training and support will be available for the right person. The role will include cervical screening, wound care, dealing with minor injuries, health promotion, management of long-term conditions, and sexual and reproductive healthcare. The post-holder will be expected to undertake training and develop skills in these areas if needed. Support for development will be provided regardless of previous experience and the practice provides a supportive environment for ongoing learning.
We are a training practice with 4 GP partners, 7 salaried GP’s, 2 prescribing nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapist and an established, talented team of administration and reception staff. We are based in a modern, purpose-built practice set in the beautiful grounds of St Marys Cathedral in the West End of Edinburgh. We are only a 10-minute walk from Haymarket train station, and 5 minutes from the local and national bus network.
