Job Advert

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced pharmacist with Independent Prescribing to take on a new role and join and lead our small pharmacy team based at Galloway Community Hospital in Stranraer. We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative pharmacist experienced in redesign to work closely with primary care and community pharmacy teams to transform the pharmacy pathways both within this community hospital and across the interface. The postholder will provide clinical pharmacist support to the inpatients and MDT at Galloway Community Hospital. This post will also support the wider health boards pharmacy needs and strategic plan for our palliative care community. Job plan consists broadly of 60% clinical pharmacy support, 20% interface redesign and 20% palliative speciality support.

You will be supported and managed by the lead pharmacist acute and diagnostics directorate based at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
This post will be ideal for someone looking to shape the future models of hospital pharmacy, collaborating with the wider local pharmacy services. Galloway Community Hospital is a 46 bedded acute community hospital consisting two wards, one acute medicine and the second rehab/care of the elderly. There are already good links with primary care and community pharmacy and this would be an excellent environment to collectively undertake redesign projects to transform both the local and wider pharmacy services and benefit the population in NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
This post provides an opportunity for someone who is ready to both design and deliver a highly specialist pharmacist role within a defined pharmacy service.

You will be based in Galloway Community Hospital in Stranraer, in a rural coastal location in beautiful south west Scotland with easy access to Northern Ireland and the Scottish central belt.

This post is up to 37.5 hours per week, part time hours and job share will be considered.  Bank holiday working as required.
There is no weekend working or on-call attached to this post.
