Band 4 Development Post (Annex 21) – Band 4 following completion of training, minimum of 3 years post qualification*​​​​​​​

​​​​​​​We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Practitioner to be based primarily at Hawick community Hospital with the expectation to work on a peripatetic basis within Teviot, including Newcastleton Practice as required. The post holder will be a band 4 HCSW or band 3 HCSW (willing to undertake development training) who will support the community nursing service in Teviot  in providing the delivery of the highest quality of health care and will be responsible and accountable for providing skilled nursing interventions as appropriate. The post holder will ensure a person centred approach to care delivery which is safe and effective to ensure and maintain quality strategy. The post holder will be expected to provide an accessible, appropriate, high quality and effective care service to all age groups in the community, by working in partnership with patients, care providers and other agencies. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative. The post holder will demonstrate effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

*Please note this is a Trainee post, therefore Annex 21 applies*

For trainees covered by Annex 21 where the period of training lasts for between one and four years, pay will be as follows:

  • up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
  • more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate of the qualified;
  • more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
  • more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.​​​​​​​
