This 20 hour, permanent post is based on Drum ward at Royal Cornhill Hospital Aberdeen. Applications will be considered from people wishing to work part-time or full-time and we would be happy to discuss additional sessions to make the post full time. 


The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the provision of the Psychiatry services to the in-patients on Drum ward. This is a newly refurbished 21 bedded unit for acute and organic admission beds covering Aberdeenshire catchments at Royal Cornhill Hospital. The postholder would be supervised and supported by the Consultant and RMO for the patients under their care. There are two other Speciality Doctors also covering the ward who provide general physical health input, in addition to a wider multidisciplinary team consisting of Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Physiotherapy and other AHP colleagues. 


The appointee is likely to be involved in undergraduate and post graduate teaching support. They will also contribute to audit, appraisal, governance and participate in annual job planning.

There are excellent opportunities for research.

Applicants must have MBChB or Equivalent, and Approved Medical Practitioner status with regard to Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, or be willing to attend Section 22 Training Course, if not previously approved. Must be able to demonstrate good clinical experience and competence in older adult psychiatry.
