A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced qualified accountant to join the Senior Finance team at NHS Lanarkshire. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful candidate will have responsibility for the Financial Services Teams (which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, ledgers, treasury, annual accounts, VAT, and endowments) and the Corporate Management Accounts Team.

Key tasks will include but are not restricted to;

  • Ensure senior corporate directors across the organisation are provided with appropriate financial information.
  • Identify and implement service improvements.
  • Lead on the delivery of the annual accounts and main point of contact for external audit.
  • Help the Board to achieve financial targets.
  • Lead on technical accounting advice for the board.
  • Ensure medium to longer term resource plans are in place.
  • Lead of the endowment fund (charity) and main link to Trustees.

As well as the technical skills to perform the role we are looking for someone with a commitment to best value, strong communication skills, the ability to problem solve and  build wider support for constructive solutions . They will be the main Board link to wider finance networks, contributing nationally and bringing back and applying intelligence. Other attributes will include but are not restricted to;​​​​​​​

  • Line management experience and a genuine desire to develop and motivate others in the team.
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of a wide range of accounting theories and concepts and the ability to explain these to non-finance colleagues.
  • A strong communicator with an enthusiastic “can do” attitude to problem solving.
