#wipodiatry

NHS Western Isles are looking to recruit a Podiatrist to join their enthusiastic and progressive team based in a rural, general hospital in one of the most spectacular areas of the UK.

The potential exists for either an experienced Podiatrist specialising in general practice (Band 6) or a recent graduate who wishes to develop their clinical skills. The latter role would initially be at Band 5 with progression to Band 6 under Annexe 21

· Experienced Podiatrists will be competent in the delivery of a high standard of care in a variety of settings and in all aspects of podiatry management.

· New graduates will have opportunity to gain experience within MSK, wound care, advanced vascular assessments, nail surgery and orthotic manufacture with the possibility of specialising depending upon your area of interest

We currently have 3.2 WTE podiatrists who specialise in General Practice along with two Extended Scope Practitioners (Woundcare and MSK). The Service provides both primary and secondary care from modern, well-equipped clinics based in the three main hospitals across the islands. The successful candidate will be based in the Western Isles Hospital, a 50-bed rural general hospital.

You will be joining a team committed to delivering the very best podiatric care including wound management, nail surgery, MSK and new patient assessment clinics. You will regularly refer for x-ray and ultrasound and liaise with GPs and Consultants in planning patient care. Whilst you’ll always have team support, it might be from a distance so it’s vital that you are able to work autonomously as well as in a team – the rural nature of the work means that your decision-making and clinical judgement must be sound. All candidates will be well-organised and self-motivated with a flexible approach.
