We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and forward-thinking pharmacist to join the ECMS clinical pharmacy team at RAH due to current secondments within the team. The post-holder would provide pharmaceutical care to in-patients within the ECMS wards and integrate with the multi-disciplinary teams providing care. This could include participating in board or ward rounds and MDT meetings, promoting the safe and effective use of medicines, supporting the development of Clinical Technician and medicine management initiatives. Current members of the ECMS pharmacy team have developed advanced practice roles within clinics for cardiology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, diabetes and hepatology. The future sustainability and delivery of these clinics requires the support of appropriately trained and experienced pharmacists. The post-holder will be expected to develop an advanced practice role within at least one of these specialties to support clinic provision.

This post would suit qualified pharmacists registered with the GPhC who have a minimum of two years hospital experience. They should have completed or be about to submit their Foundation Training portfolio or recognised equivalent experience. Clinical pharmacy experience of different medical specialities, including cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology and endocrinology would be beneficial but not essential. The post-holder will support junior staff undertaking Foundation Training and hosting experiential learning placements for pharmacy undergraduates.

Flexibility and good communication skills are essential. If the post-holder is already undertaking a postgraduate or prescribing qualification, appropriate support will be given to continue this. Although a prescribing qualification is essential in order to undertake a future clinic role it is not essential for this to be in place to commence this post. If applying for this post as a secondment opportunity please ensure you have discussed it with your line manager prior to submission.

The Royal Alexandra Hospital is a busy General Hospital with >600 beds located in Paisley serving the Renfrewshire district. Pharmacists participate in a 5 out of 7 day work pattern and are required to participate in weekend working, public holiday and on call rotas.
