We currently have a vacancy for a First Level Registered Mental Health Nurses, to work within our integrated Older Peoples Community Mental Health Teams within Psychiatry of Old Age services, Angus.
Our service consists of 3 x Community Mental Health Teams, located across Angus (North East, North West & South Localities), Dementia Liaison Services and Post Diagnostic Support Services. We also have in-patient units which consist of a13-bedded functional assessment unit, 2 organic assessment & challenging behaviour units, which are located on two sites across Angus – Stracathro Hospital, and Whitehills Health & Community Care Centre (currently temporarily non operational)
Candidates should have a current registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council.
The candidate must have a positive approach to teamwork, a commitment to caring for older people and to their ongoing professional development. The team includes clinicians from several different professional backgrounds. These include Mental Health Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, and Support Workers. Working in these teams require staff to support individuals to maintain their social and health wellbeing, to work in a recovery focussed and person-centred way. The candidate requires to demonstrate effective assessment and management of risk. The teams undertake case management, psychological interventions and procurement of care at home services to address the health and social care needs of individuals with mental health problems. The candidate will require to have excellent networking skills to liaise with partner agencies such as primary care and third sector agencies.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate current thinking, in relation to older people and mental health care and a willingness to respond positively to change and excellent communication skills are essential. Be able to demonstrate the use of outcomes focussed approaches to improve individuals’ health and wellbeing. Demonstrate an ability to work autonomously and at times under pressure is essential.
Hours of work: 30 hours per week
You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN 3 or RNMH of the UK NMC Register
