An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Clinical Education Facilitator to join the NMAHP Clinical & Practice Education Team.

Lying off the northern coast of Scotland, between John O’Groats and the Shetland Isles, Orkney is an archipelago of over 70 beautiful islands, 17 of which are inhabited. The excellent ferry and air connections make travel to the Scottish mainland, Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Shetland, and even Norway quite easy. There is a rich archaeological history to be explored, as well as many outdoor pursuits, including diving in Scapa Flow, kayaking, walking, cycling, bird watching, and many more. Orcadian culture is rich, with music and arts and crafts well represented. The St Magnus Music Festival in June is internationally renowned.

The Clinical Education Facilitator (CEF) will support nurses and midwives to meet standards set out by Professional and Regulatory bodies through clinical education and clinical practice development. They will also have an active role in the preparation, delivery and evaluation of essential local nursing training to ensure staff and students are trained to provide safe and effective care for patients while meeting professional standards.

Using their clinical expertise, the postholder will offer advice, guidance and direction in matters related to clinical and/or education skills. They will also take the lead role in ensuring that nursing and midwifery student experience in clinical placements meets national and locally agreed standards, support the educational development of existing staff, and contribute to clinical developments across nursing and on occasions beyond.

The successful candidate will be a registered nurse, educated to degree level with an appropriate nursing or midwifery qualification. Experience of managing and leading teams and developing and delivering training programmes is essential.
