This is a full-time permanent post. Shift pattern: Mon- Fri 9-5
South Glasgow Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health Service (CAMHS) are looking to recruit a Band 6 Specialist Mental Health Nurse. Candidates will work alongside our existing multi-disciplinary professionals to assess and treat the children and young people referred to our service. A key component of this role will be initial choice assessments and triage of new referrals.
The candidate:
- must have First level Registered Mental Nurse (RMN/RNLD) with NMC Registration, Relevant post registration experience of working with children and or young people (and their families/carers) with a range of mental health/ learning disability and neuro-developmental difficulties, an ability to work independently using own initiative and without direct supervision.
- must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and team working skills and demonstrates a positive attitude towards children and young people alongside an understanding of children and young people’s mental health and developmental needs.
- must demonstrate an understanding of family, community, and social systems.
- should have the ability to function competently as a member of the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team and have knowledge of factors which impact on mental health and emotional well-being.
- must be able to conceptualise vulnerability, including risk factors and intervene to build resilience.
- must demonstrate an ability/willingness to work towards achieving the competencies identified in ‘Essential CAMHS’ and a commitment to personal and professional development.
- should have evidence of organisational skills and experience of multi-disciplinary working.
As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be short listed for interview.
