An opportunity has arisen to join the Cellular Pathology Department at University Hospital Crosshouse, NHS Ayrshire and Arran. Applications are invited from suitably experienced and motivated individuals with excellent knowledge and practical skills and experience in Histology. The post will be a permanent, full time (37.5 hrs per week) Senior Specialist BMS in Histology and you will be expected to participate in the out of hours and Saturday morning rota.

The department processes approx. 25k histology samples per annum and also provides diagnostic cytology, semenology and immunocytochemistry services. We have recently implemented digital pathology which we would expect you to have involvement in. As Senior BMS you will be responsible under the direction of the Chief BMS and accountable to the Pathology Laboratory Manager to ensure the departmental quality management system (QMS) is implemented and maintained.

You will be involved in Audit and help the Quality lead ensure the Audit schedule is maintained. You must be HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, qualified to MSc degree level or equivalent. You will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, organisational, training skills and must have experience of managing staff, experience and evidence as a band 6 specialist BMS is required.
