NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

This is a unique opportunity, following a recent redesign, to become the Head of Wellbeing, Culture and Development for NHS Grampian as we pursue our aim of being an organisation where people are able to thrive and be safe and well through work. This is a key role within the People & Culture Senior Leadership Team and north east health and care system leadership cohort. It is pivotal to developing, shaping, implementing and leading service delivery to the workforce, and all levels of management in support of the changes required to deliver a sustainable workforce, healthy organisational culture, and environments and systems of work that promote health, safety and wellbeing.

Underpinning this, the post-holder is the most senior expert for different forms of individual, group and team development and other interventions that support organisational effectiveness and colleagues’ wellbeing. A critical aspect of this post is to role model and actively promote a values-based culture and organisational learning, helping NHS Grampian and its Health & Social Care Partnerships to be recognised employers of choice. It is an outstanding opportunity for a progressive leader and innovative thinker to help shape specialist development services so that they help to deliver essential changes to how people lead, manage and work in our health and care system.

NHS Grampian is the third largest teaching Board in Scotland, with strong links to local Universities. The Board provides tertiary services to the 550,000 people of Grampian and residents of neighbouring NHS Boards; Orkney and Shetland. NHS Grampian employs around 17,000 staff. We are committed to developing our organisational culture, embedding system leadership, and providing enhanced support for colleagues’ wellbeing and growth.

To thrive in this role, you will need to possess highly specialist knowledge of one or more specialist Wellbeing, Culture and Development service areas acquired through degree and/or professional qualifications, plus additional training or equivalent experience to Masters level. You will be a member of the CIPD or another relevant professional body, with postgraduate level experience and exposure to system leadership, leading and managing change in complex organisations, and providing advice to senior officers.

Informal enquiries are most welcome.  Please contact Mr Tom Power, Director of People and Culture via gram.workforce@nhs.scot.
