The Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service is a Multidisciplinary, diagnostic assessment service for children and young people who present with possible Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Foetal Alcohol Spectrum (FAS), Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Developmental Language Disorder (DLD).
Do you have the drive and enthusiasm to join our team? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical nurse specialist to join our existing team to support the delivery of the NDAS Pathway.
We are aware that Neurodevelopmental Assessment is a highly specialist clinical area and so we value the transferrable skills that you have developed in your existing role which will allow you to develop the knowledge and experience to achieve your competencies in this role. As a clinical nurse specialist, you will have excellent communication skills with children, young people and families and be confident communicating by phone, video appointment or face to face. You will be familiar with case history taking and listening to families tell their story and what matters to them. You will be supportive when feeding back diagnosis that can be challenging and distressing to some families. You will be able to plan your workload and liaise with others who have a role with the assessment of children on your caseload. You will also add to the assessments of children on other member’s of the team’s caseload within your area of clinical expertise. You will value working as part of a Multidisciplinary team, secure in the roles and responsibilities you hold while respecting the boundaries of your clinical practice. You will need to be flexible, be able to prioritise and manage your time effectively. You will welcome opportunities to learn new skills and will enjoy a demanding work environment that delivers an efficient and effective clinical pathway while benefiting from being part of a service that values the wellbeing of its team members.
As a highly specialist clinical team, CPD is prioritised with all team members undertaking generic and role specific additional training. This post will require completion of non-medical prescribing qualification with additional training identified as part of the post holder’s job plan.
Our working week is Monday to Friday and core hours are usually between 8.30am and 5pm with all staff on a set rota. We are happy to discuss preferred hours with the successful candidate.
While the majority of the role will be on site at the Willows, Children and Family Centre, ability to travel independently is necessary for occasional community visits.
