OUR VALUES IN ACTION

Care and Compassion Quality and Teamwork Dignity and Respect Openness, honesty and responsibility

A rare opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate nurse leader to join our nurse-led Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Day Case Unit as a Band 7 Senior Oncology Charge Nurse. The successful post holder will demonstrate high professional standards, acting as a role model, to manage and lead the SACT team within a nurse led Cancer day-case unit. Working autonomously, clinical decision making and excellent communication skills are essential in managing the safe care and delivery of SACT, in close collaboration with multi-professionals within the South East Scotland Cancer network region.

NHS Borders covers a rural area with a population of approximately 114,000. The Borders Macmillan Centre, nurse-led SACT facility is based in Borders General Hospital, treating 26-30 people per day, working in close collaboration with onsite haematologists, NHS Lothian Oncologists and wider members of the Cancer Specialist team.

Applicants are required to have a minimum of 6 years post registration experience in a systemic-anti cancer therapy (SACT) environment with a minimum of 2 years at band 6 or equivalent management experience. Excellent communication, organisation – including SACT scheduling, leadership, and respectful team working are key elements of the role.

Commitment to career development and ability to share learning within SACT and Oncology specialties are essential. Non-medical prescribing and clinical decision making qualifications are desirable but not essential and professional development is supported.
