The post holder will be charged with the responsibility of the delivery of expert moving and handling advice, which allows NHS Lanarkshire to deliver safe quality healthcare within the financial constraints of the service. The post holder will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of measures to achieve the objectives of NHS Lanarkshire’s Health and Safety Strategy in general, and the Moving and Handling Policy in particular. The post holder will lead the provision and effectiveness of specialist moving and handling support by a combination of influence on standards and direction of devolved specialist services. They will also provide NHS Lanarkshire with high calibre expert advice, guidance and policy infrastructure relative to moving and handling which facilitates its ability to respond and manage all related risks appropriately. The post is not supported by clerical assistance and therefore the post holder has to carry out all administrative duties, e.g. filing, course administration, preparation of reports.
The successful candidate must evidence;
Professional Clinical Qualification and experience e.g. Registered Nurse, Chartered Physiotherapist, State Registered Occupational Therapist with minimum 5 years post qualifying experience.
Neuromuscular Approach to Efficient Handling and Moving certificate to advanced level or equivalent.
A recognised Training certificate
Sound working knowledge of Manual Handling and relevant Health & Safety legislation
Critical analysis and decision making and management skills
Commitment to and evidence of ongoing /professional development as identified by the PDP.
Team working skills
Knowledge of all relevant national and local policies, legislation and procedures etc.
Information technology skills.
Additional extension of skills as deemed essential for clinical practice
Exemplary handling skills and good training and communication skills.
A valid UK driving license
