Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in Western General Hospital.
This is a full time post for a Consultant Urologist who wishes to provide a high quality Urology service. The post-holder will contribute to the busy Endourology component of the service was well as having involvement in General and Diagnostic urology, with a focus on the assessment and treatment of bladder outflow obstruction. The post holder would be encouraged to streamline these areas of practice and support the introduction of service developments such as one stop clinics and newer surgical techniques.
Urology services are provided by the Lothian and Borders network which provides general and specialist urological services for a population of 850,000 across several sites centred on the unit at the Western General Hospital. In addition to St John’s Hospital, Livingston the network includes the Borders General Hospital, Melrose and East Lothian Community Hospital, Haddington.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be based at the Western General Hospital but will have allocated sessions at St John’s Hospital.
