We have an opportunity for two experienced enthusiastic and motivated charge nurses to be part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will have responsibility for the assessment of care needs and evaluation of programmes of care ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients. In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse/Team Leader, the post holder will have continuing responsibility for the management and clinical leadership of the area including supervision, development and deployment of staff.  Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care. In the absence Senior Charge Nurse/ Co-ordinator responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care. In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse/ Team Leader assume responsibility for the management/operation of the unit, including work allocation, deployment and supervision of staff. Co-operate with the Clinical Nurse Manager or deputy / Senior Charge Nurse / Team Leader in the management of induction, recruitment, appraisal and absence management of staff. To maintain effective communications with patients/carers and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that the appropriate information is shared, and patient needs are met.


KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at degree Level
  • Postgraduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality/area of practice.
  • Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
  • Further education/evidence of continuous professional development in area of speciality including study days/courses/postgraduate qualification
  • Excellent team working/leadership skills and ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
