What you'll do

Are you interested in developing the role of pharmacy technicians in Scotland?  These are exciting posts for Programme Officers to support education and training for pharmacy technicians and offers unique development opportunities for enthusiastic and experienced pharmacy technicians to expand their career experience at this level.

The post holders will support the development and delivery of a number of pharmacy technician initiatives, as well as providing an excellent opportunity to gain experience in an education and training environment.  


We have two temporary roles available

General Practice Learning Pathway – 1.0 WTE (to March 2024)

This post will support the delivery of the General Practice Learning Pathway for Pharmacy Technicians across Scotland.


Peripatetic Work Based Assessor for Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs) - 1.0 WTE (to September 2014)

This post will support delivery of the new NES Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) Scheme across Scotland, supporting the assessment of PTPTs undertaking the SVQ in Pharmacy Services at SCQF Level 8, to ensure a quality standardised programme.  Significant experience as a work based assessor is required for this role with experience/understanding of the SQA assessment processes and quality management systems desirable.

The post holders will work closely with the relevant Senior Educators for pharmacy technicians, other Programme Officers and key stakeholders from all pharmacy sectors in the continued development and delivery of education and training for pharmacy technicians. 


What you'll bring

As well as the noted requirement for each role, significant experience in a relevant role and setting is required as well as a flexible approach to learning and problem solving, effective prioritisation and sound judgement.  Developing effective relationships with key stakeholders will also be essential for the delivery of this post. Experience and/or understanding of the external drivers as well as awareness of relevant NHS policies/priorities is desirable, as is experience of audit, evaluation or research.


The nature of the posts will allow you to develop your knowledge and skills in an education and training environment at a regional and national level.


You should be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
