An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practice Co-ordinator to join our team at Maryfield Medical Centre in Dundee.

Maryfield Medical Centre is a GP surgery which operates under a 2C arrangement within NHS Tayside and we are looking to recruit a Practice Co-ordinator who will work in partnership with the Practice Manager, Clinical Lead GP, Administrative and Clinical teams.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive experience in a general practice administration leadership or supervisory role or evidence of working at this level.  You will provide leadership and operational management to our administration team and excel in areas of staff motivation and development, negotiating, conflict management and decision making.

You will be required to have excellent working knowledge and skills in GP practice IT systems e.g. Vision and Docman.  You should have previous experience of summarising patient notes, clinical coding, clinical data entry and workflow management.  You must also have the ability to create Vision searches, provide data using Clinical Audit. You should also have experience in processing repeat prescriptions and running monthly recalls.

The candidate will be key to providing day to day leadership to the administration team and developing and implementing effective and efficient administrative systems and processes. Excellent inter-personal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to demonstrate good team working and to work autonomously.  You must also have the ability to work under pressure, manage and respond to conflicting issues in a rapidly changing environment.  Attention to detail, accuracy, critical thinking and problem solving will be required for this role. 

It is important that you can work as part of a team and a degree of flexibility will be required with regards to work patterns. It is essential that you enjoy working with the public, have excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly and welcoming manner.  There may be a requirement to work across other 2C practices in Dundee should the need arise. 

Your performance must comply with the national “Mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers 2009” and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.

Hours of work are37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

You will be required to work flexibly during periods of staff leave ensuring that the practice is covered between 0800-1815 hours.
