An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Department of Neurosurgery, based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This post is to advertise a junior fellowship, aimed at FY2-grade doctors, to support the Department in the delivery of service.
The successful candidate will take part in an on-call, out of hours rota and will be part of a 10-person FY2 team.
THE OF THE NEUROSURGICAL DEPARTMENT
The department provides neurosurgical services to Glasgow and the West of Scotland with a catchment population of approximately 2.8 million. The full range of cranial and spinal neurosurgery is undertaken. Approximately 60% of the work is emergency or urgent in nature. The department has three fully equipped operating theatres. There are close interactions with the departments of neurology, neurophysiology, neuroradiology and neuropathology, which all reside within the same building. The department provides a service to the National Spinal Injuries Unit, and there are close links (including joint operating) with the and Maxillofacial teams. The University Department of Neurosurgery is located within the Institute.
