Job Advert
Due to the promotion of the current post holder, we have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Pharmacist to join the Dermatology Team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The acute dermatology service in NHSGGC is managed via Clyde Sector but includes out-patient clinics at all Acute and Ambulatory Care Hospital sites. The focus of this post will be to provide specialist clinical pharmacy support to the dermatology service across NHSGGC, with a particular focus on high risk/high cost medications such as biologics, JAK inhibitors and immunosuppressants. This will be a predominantly patient facing role, in which the post-holder will develop pharmacist-run clinics treating patients with inflammatory skin conditions including psoriasis and eczema. You will be expected to manage your own patient caseload whilst working closely with the multi-disciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop consultation and prescribing skills as well as experience in service development. You will become an integral part of the dermatology team, providing expert advice to patients and staff regarding a variety of immunosuppressant and biologic medications. You will contribute to the monitoring and development of prescribing protocols for existing and newly introduced high-cost medicines, and contribute to audit data collection and research within the specialty. This post will require an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication, multi-disciplinary team-working and time management skills to ensure the delivery of both patient-centered pharmaceutical care and delivery of cost-effective prescribing strategies for NHSGGC. You should be registered with the GPhC, have completed NES Foundation Level Vocational Training or have equivalent experience, and be a registered independent pharmacist prescriber.
We welcome applications from community, primary care and hospital pharmacists.
Experience working in dermatology is not essential – the right candidate will have the attitude and aptitude to develop competencies in a timely manner.
Part-time or job share appointments will be considered. The shift pattern for this post will be Monday-Friday. This is a peripatetic post requiring travel across a variety of sites.
