Job Purpose

Responsible for co ordinating and supporting robotic surgeries within Colorectal and Urology at the Western General Hospital, covering the pre/peri and immediate post operative pathways of the patient journey including providing expert clinical and professional guidance for all procedures carried out using robotic systems, following established polices and guidelines, supporting other health care professionals in training and education for use in robotic systems.

To undertake the role of surgical first assistant under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon undertaking robotic surgeries at the Western General Hospital.

Responsible for the operational and professional management of surgical first assistants working within the surgical directorate at the Western General Hospital.  This includes the achievement of key performance indicators.

If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
