We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy team to play a fundamental part in supporting people to regain confidence and independence in the things that matter to them.

The role consists of two components: 18.75 hrs with the Short Term Assessment and Reablement team (START) and 18.75 hrs with the Adaptation and Rehabilitation team (ART).

You would remain at a Band 5 while over an 18-month period, developing your skills and working towards fulfilling the duties of this Band 6 position (per Annex 20 of NHS Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook Scotland).

START role: You will be to be part of the well-established Short-Term Assessment and Reablement Team (START) which currently operate in Stornoway and surrounding areas, with the Health and Social Care Partnership further expanding this service to areas on rural Lewis. The START team comprises of Reablement Workers, Care and Support Supervisors, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapy. Our START OTs also work in the hospital covering the general medical and surgical case load.

ART role: The remaining 18.75hrs will be with the Adaptation and Rehabilitation Team working with people in their own home or in a homely setting to support them through a short-term rehabilitation programme, provision of equipment or adaptations.

The role will include shift patterns across 7 days – on average one weekend a month. You must be an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist and must produce evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).

We offer the support of a professional and well-established integrated team who provide the Occupational Therapy service to people in the Western Isles.

Support, supervision and CPD are integral to this job. Contributing to service development and modernisation is encouraged at all levels.

You will require a current full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for which allowances will be payable.  The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme). This post is not eligible for relocation expenses.
