Band 6 Acute Medicine/Infectious Diseases

Specialist Physiotherapist

37.5 hours

1 x 1 year post



We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy Team to cover a period of career break


You will deliver physiotherapy assessments and treatments across the Western General site’s acute medical specialities. There will be the opportunity to gain experience across our front door assessment units, acute medical wards, and infectious diseases unit.   


Candidates must display evidence of clinical experience in a variety of acute in-patient areas, with proven exposure to acute medicine, general rehabilitation, medicine of elderly and respiratory.  Previous experience within infectious diseases would be desirable although not essential.


The ability to prioritise and discharge plan for a wide range of presentations is essential, as is clarity of communication and well-demonstrated organisational skills. Experience of supervision, mentorship and appraisal of other staff members / students is essential, but support will be given.


The range of conditions and specialities encountered, and requirement for excellence in clinical reasoning and team working in this post at the Western General Hospital will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a band 6 physiotherapist including leadership and mentorship skills


Physiotherapy Services support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities.


There is a regular weekend and overnight on-call commitment.
