The core purpose of the Digital & Security organisation is the provision of world class Digital and Security expertise, solutions and services to our customers, which include NSS, NHS Boards, Scottish Government and the wider Public Sector in Scotland.
A critical role in ensuring integrated Technology strategy and delivery of suitable and effective solutions and services is the Demand and Resource Manager position. This role provides the end-to-end view of all activity and resource allocations across Digital and Security to ensure full transparency of activity against priorities, funding and optimum resource planning and utilisation. It also has lead responsibility for the Business Office supporting the work of the Digital and Security directorate.
The Post:
This role sits within the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) which has responsibility for directorate business management as well as transformational technology delivery across the NHS in Scotland. The OCIO is focussed on delivering the DaS strategy and making DaS a trusted thought leader and a great place to work. Excellent demand, resource and financial management processes are essential to this and this role will have lead responsibility for these areas.
In this role you will be responsible for capturing, estimating and managing the entire DaS view of activity with regards demand requests, resourcing status and financial reporting. Providing regular reporting and updates to the Senior Management Team within the DaS directorate and to the wider NSS organisation. You will have lead responsibility for managing and continuously improving our Demand process whereby requests for DaS involvement are received, assessed, sized, quoted for and planned. You will also have lead responsibility for collaboratively improving the resource management process involving senior staff across the directorate and reporting on this at senior levels across the organisation. Additionally in conjunction with business partners and controllers from Finance directorate you will be responsible for financial reporting and recharging within the directorate ensuring that we accurately quote for and recharge for our services.
The Candidate:
You will be a key player in the development of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) function and in partnership with the wider OCIO team establish and promote a customer focused, consistent and professional approach from Digital and Security. You will liaise and partner across Clinical, Transformation, Cloud Operations and Information Security areas in ensuring cross functional approaches and methods are collaboratively create, implemented and adopted. This will include continually looking for new and better ways of doing things and making them happen.
Applications are invited from individuals who have Portfolio and Resource planning and delivery management experience in a technical discipline or consultancy environment who are both operationally minded to drive improvements and are curious to drive new ways of working and technology implementation to achieve step function changes in delivery.
Location and Working Pattern:
This post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Meridian Court, Glasgow.
However, it should be noted that NSS is currently in the process of relocating from Meridian Court to nearby Delta House, 50 West Nile Street Glasgow G1 2NP.
A hybrid model if working is currently in place.
The work pattern for this role is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
