An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our Kidney Nurse Specialist (KNS) Team. You will be part of a small team of specialist nurses who are responsible for the overall development, assessment, and evaluation of care for chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients & kidney transplant recipients/donors within Ayrshire & Arran.
The KNS service is a programme serving Ayrshire & Arran wide and currently has a case load of over 400 patients. Our aim is to ensure CKD patients and their families are physically, emotionally and psychologically prepared for kidney transplantation / initiation of dialysis or conservative care. You will manage your own patient case load which includes: CKD patients; kidney transplant recipients and living kidney donors as well as being responsible for developing, implementing and improving renal education & transplant pathways.
Requirements:
• Registered nurse with current NMC registration who has experience of working at a senior level within a renal setting
• Relevant undergraduate degree or working towards degree
• Evidence of further education including advanced clinical practice, post registration/diploma qualifications within a renal specialty
• In depth knowledge of all dialysis modalities including kidney transplantation
• In depth knowledge of renal anaemia and available treatments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• Is innovative and demonstrates leadership skills, management skills and the ability to prioritise own workload.
• Evidence of continued professional development in line with NMC requirements
• Effective decision making
• Participates in educational and professional development programmes.
• Excellent teaching and presentation skills.
• Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required.
• Car driver
Full driving licence is required.
