An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Ophthalmic Technician to become part of the ophthalmology team at Falkirk community hospital.  This is a full time permanent contact .  Full in house training will be provided for this post, however may be most suited to an experienced ophthalmic technician or someone who is keen to learn new skills as part of our dynamic eye team.

The successful candidates should be able to work effectively as part of a team providing and facilitating a high standard of nursing, technical and ophthalmic care.

You should enjoy working with members of the public, have a good understanding of person centred care, good communication skills and be eager to learn.

This post will involve vision testing, using the i Care to measure eye pressure, visual field examination, and a variety of ophthalmic imaging techniques, ensuring the ophthalmic clinics run smoothly and generally assisting patients in the eye clinic throughout their visit.  You will also be required to work in our Day Surgery Ward as required.

The usual shift pattern is Monday to Friday 8.30-5 in outpatients and 8-4 in the day surgery unit with one shorter day each week where you will finish at 14.00/12.00 however you must be flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends if required.
