IT Specialist Database Administrator (DBA)

NHS Western Isles

Salary £37,831 - £46,100 (Band 6) per annum

Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,279 per annum

37.5 hours per week

NHS Western Isles is looking to recruit a Specialist DBA to provide advanced second line support across NHS Western Isles.  This role is the key contact for all database migrations, interfaces and backups ensuring clinical systems and applications are working effectively.

The Specialist DBA post holder will be expert in the implementation and configuration of all aspects of Microsoft SQL programming language databases and Windows Server with an excellent working knowledge of technical interfaces for system linkage and data flow.

The post holder must have previous experience of working in a complex IT environment with hands on experience of SQL and PowerShell scripting, database maintenance, interfacing and security, and maintaining network and server infrastructure and backups.

They must be able to work on their own but also as part of the wider IT team and be responsive to changes in priorities in line with Board initiatives. 

A Degree in an IT related subject or recognised industry standard qualification is essential for this post.
