Pharmacy Technician Higher Level
Band 5
Fixed Term or Secondment Opportunity – 2 years
37.5 hours worked over Monday to Friday.
We are looking for a suitably qualified, highly motivated and proactive Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and supportive Education & Training team to assist with the delivery of Pharmacy Vocational Qualifications to Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs) and Pharmacy Support Workers (PSWs). Our team supports pharmacy staff across a wide range of services and specialties so that they may undertake national qualifications and educational programmes to aid career progression.
This post is specifically responsible for supporting development of Pharmacy Technician capacity through expansion of the NHSGGC PTPT Training Programme and has a specific focus on trainee Pharmacy Technicians working in our acute hospital sites.
You will have a key role in supporting PTPTs to meet the competencies required to be eligible to register with the independent regulator for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy premises in Great Britain, The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) at the end of a 2 year training period and practice as a qualified Pharmacy Technician.
You will work closely with both the Education & Training team and hospital based pharmacy staff and provide a co-ordinated approach to the undertaking of the SVQ Pharmacy Services SCQF Level 8 (GR2C 24). You will provide advice and guidance to PTPTs and support existing and newly qualified Work Based Assessors in the assessment of candidates’ practical ability to undertake everyday tasks in the workplace.
You will plan and co-ordinate trainee Progress Reports, highlight any areas of concern where appropriate and liaise with each member of the Pharmacy Education & Training team to ensure the exchange of key information affecting the efficient delivery of education and training to all support staff across Pharmacy Services is maintained.
Pharmacy Support Workers in GGC undertake an SVQ full group award at SCQF Level 6 and you will also support this group of staff in their area of practice.
You must be able to demonstrate an ability to lead and motivate key members of staff involved in supporting our PTPTs in addition to the trainees themselves. You must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, be able to plan and prioritise your own workload and at times work under pressure.
You must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and have attained a Work Place Based Assessor Award (D 32/33, A Units or the L&D 9DI). Experience of working in hospital pharmacy is desirable.
The shift pattern of this post is Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
