We are looking for suitably qualified HCSW and or new employees to undertake and complete Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) programme in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland.  

The role of the Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) is to work as part of the multidisciplinary perioperative team delivering high standards of perioperative care. ODPs roles mainly cover anaesthetic assistants, scrub practitioner and recovery practitioner within the surgical operating theatres.

The course is a 2 year university programme commencing August 2023 and is a blend of online and work based learning, including the provision of placements and study time.  In order to fulfil all aspects of the course the successful trainees will be expected to complete placements at University Hospital Crosshouse, Ayrshire Maternity Unit and University Hospital Ayr. Throughout the programme you will be fully supported by mentors within the clinical area and NHS AA are committed to supporting all course fees.

After successful completion of the Dip HE in Operating Department Practice you will be eligible for registration with Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and will have the opportunity to apply for a Band 5 ODP position within NHS AA.

Hours: 37.5 per week
