Senior Staff Nurse
Ward 1/HDU/DSU/Ambulatory Care (Rotational post) (Ref: 148726)
Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
Band 6 - Salary Range £37,831 - £46,100 per annum
Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2,256 per annum
A Relocation Assistance of up to £8,000 is available
Our surgical ward provides care to adult and paediatric patients from a wide range of specialities including ENT, gynaecology, ophthalmology, Max Fax, Dental, orthopaedic, as well as general surgery. The ward has 22 beds including 2 for high dependency care patients.
In this role you will also rotate to the Day Surgery/Ambulatory Care Unit. This unit provides care to adult and paediatric patients from a wide range of specialities including ENT, ophthalmology, Max Fax, Dental, orthopaedic, as well as Endoscopy and general surgery.
The Ambulatory Care Unit is for long term condition care, biologic infusions, pre subcutaneous biologic injection workup, undertaking bloods and information sharing to these patients. Assisting clinicians when administering maintenance and termination of regional or local anaesthetics. Application of Qutensa patches to patients requiring this procedure.
As a Senior Staff Nurse you will assist in managing a team of nursing staff on the ward and the Day Surgery Unit. , including Registered Nurses, Healthcare Support Workers and student nurses. You will also provide nursing leadership and expertise and contribute to the education, training and support of fellow health professionals.
You will be a Registered General Nurse with post registration experience gained as a Band 5. You will have a broad knowledge of surgical care and high dependency experience or a willingness to undertake high dependency training. You will have excellent communication skills, experience of mentoring/preceptorship and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential. Skills in audit and policy work would be desirable.
