An opportunity for a Band 5 Nurse to work within the Admission/Discharge area which is part of the Day Surgery Unit at the New Victoria Hospital.  This is a 48 bed, Nurse led, admission and discharge area, which caters for a variety of surgical specialities. This post takes part in a variety of shifts, covering from 0730hrs to 2000hrs Monday to Friday. This is a dynamic clinical area with a high turnover of patients
You will be a First Level Registered Nurse trained in general nursing or adult nursing. Experience in a Surgical Specialty is desirable, however training will be provided to the successful candidate to become a skilled member of the Team and the opportunity to rotate as necessary to support the 12 bedded overnight surgical bed ward during daytime hours. You will be expected to provide the highest standard of specialist patient care without direct supervision. The post holder should be a registered nurse who is highly motivated and enthusiastic to be part of this team.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and follow standards/protocols in order to give a quality service to patients You will be supported in expanding your knowledge and skills by our departmental practice development staff. The ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team is required. Furthermore, you will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration will not be shortlisted.
