We are looking to recruit a part-time, fixed-term, Higher Clerical Officer based at University Hospital Hairmyres within the Medical Directorate department. The shift pattern for this post is 25.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Please note:

  • this is a part-time post and the salary for this position will be pro rata.
  • this is a fixed-term post for 6 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have a written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.  

JOB PURPOSE

  • To provide comprehensive Administrative and Clerical support to clinical and non-clinical staff in order to ensure the smooth running of the service.
  • Where appropriate, supervise clerical staff and provide support to the line manager.

  KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in an Administrative and Clerical role.
  • Educated to Higher Grade level.
  • Ability to supervise staff.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills in customer care.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Understanding of a range of procedures and processes.
  • Ability to prioritise work and work on own initiative whilst under pressure.
  • Proficient I.T. skills which include a working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • Ensuring confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion are maintained at all times.
