Are you looking for your next career move?  Want to make a difference to the lives of the community you work and live in through the provision of a holistic truly person-centered service?

We have a vacancy for a Non-Doctor Islands District Nurse/Nurse Practitioner in Fetlar, known as the garden of Shetland due to its lush and fertile landscape, it lies between the most northernly isles of Yell and Unst.  Fetlar has a resident population of 61 and is actively working to increase the population by encouraging people to move to the island.

Being the resident nurse on the non-doctor island of Fetlar you will provide a nursing service to the resident population for episodes of both planned and emergency care, acting as first point of contact providing effective nursing assessment and treatment during an emergency situation in liaison with the General Practitioner based on the neighboring island of Yell and/or in collaboration with the Scottish Ambulance Service First Responders with remote support from Paramedics.

The postholder is also expected to provide personal care for islanders, as required, either in the absence of on-island based social care provision or as part of an overall care package and treat individuals with a minor illness/minor ailment independently without regular recourse to a medical practitioner.
