The Aberdeen City Vaccination Programme are looking to recruit Fixed term (Secondment opportunity available) Band 5 Vaccinators (August 2023 – 31st January 2023). This will be within vaccination centres, as well as outlying community clinics. Successful individuals may also be required to assist the Community Treatment and Care (CTAC) Team or other services, in line with their professional registration, skills and experience.
Applicants should hold a valid registration with a governing body or be a registered nurse with current full NMC registration. They must be able to demonstrate a high standard of care, so the immunisation programme is carried out safely, effectively and according to the national policies. Applicants must have good time management and should be an active team player, but also be able to work on their own initiative. They need to have an open, friendly manner with excellent communication skills, as they can be dealing with a diverse range of people from all age groups, occasionally resulting in stressful situations. Applicants must be adaptable and willing to move to another clinic if required.
Applicants must have completed the NES online immunisation course, showing they will have an increased knowledge of vaccinations and service delivery, including a working knowledge of the UK immunisation schedule and the “Green Book” along with the up to date Patient Group Directions for the various vaccinations which include babies to the elderly, thus having the ability to make decisions relating to safe principles of vaccination delivery. Experience in supervising junior staff and mentoring students would also be very desirable.
The post holder should hold a current driving license and own or have access to a vehicle as work may take place across the Aberdeen City region in community vaccination clinics, home visits, Schools and Nursing homes.
We are seeking people for a minimum of 22 hours per week, and days of work may be over 6 days.
