Job Advert

Applications are invited for two LAT posts, within the North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme.  These posts are offered at CT1 or ST4 Level.

The North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme is delivered through Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Aberdeen and Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. These posts may be based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary or Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, depending on experience of the successful applicant and needs of the training program. Six months previous experience in anaesthesia and the Initial Assessment of Competence are desirable. Other suitable candidates may be considered.

These posts commence from 2nd August 2023 for a period of 12 months until 6 August 2024.

Brief Description of the programme:

Both Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Raigmore Hospital have most major surgical specialties on a single site. In addition, Aberdeen has a busy maternity unit and also the Royal Aberdeen Children’s hospital located within the main hospital campus. Raigmore Hospital is a District General Hospital and has slightly less busy maternity and paediatric units. Allocation of trainees between the two sites takes into account this regional variation in workload. Both sites have busy intensive care units and trainees will get excellent experience managing critically ill patients.
Aberdeen and Inverness are well served by air, rail and road and uniquely allow quick and easy access to the wild and spectacular scenery of Royal Deeside and the Highlands. Both Inverness and Aberdeen have vibrant modern city centers and are great places to live and bring up families.
The Aberdeen Medical School is on site, with many opportunities to become involved in student teaching. Students rotate through anaesthetics at various times in their degree programme, and anaesthetic trainees are often actively involved in delivering medical education.
