We are delighted to advertise an AHP technical instructor post working across medium and low secure settings with Dieticians, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist and Speech & Language Therapist.
Under the supervision of a registered Allied Health Professional within the Forensic Directorate the post holder will be expected to:
- Use specialised technical/creative skills to co-ordinate, develop and facilitate a flexible client centred programme of therapeutic activities for individuals/groups of clients who experience mental health difficulties and have offending behaviours. This will involve supervising and working with patients on a one : one or group work basis, either in a secure ward environment, the local community or the person’s own home
- To work between the secure environments and community forensic mental health team and support clients through the transition process of moving into the community.
- Implement and evaluate Allied Health Professional interventions for forensic clients in activities related to their AHP treatment programme.Through supervision and direction from AHP staff, Technical Instructors undertake agreed therapeutic interventions with clients, who experience mental health difficulties and offending behaviours and have a requirement for secure care or support.
This would include supported involvement with assessment of risk and interventions based on offending behaviours. The postholder requires an understanding of the different AHP professions roles working within the forensic AHP service.
