Salaried General practitioner  - 3 PAs

Salary Scale : £66,031 to £98,555 pro rata (dependent on skills and experience)

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an interesting and dynamic multidisciplinary team offering specialist care and treatment to people experiencing eating disorders.  This job is offered as a permanent post on a 3 PAs per week basis within NHS Tayside Eating Disorders Service (TEDS).  The successful candidate will primarily work with the team in delivering outpatient treatment but there will also be a role in liaising with partners who provide inpatient care. Recent Scottish Government review of, and investment in, national eating disorders services means that the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and shape local, regional and national provision.

TEDS clinicians include Clinical & Counselling Psychologists, a Nurse, Dieticians and administrative support staff.

The successful candidate will contribute to the assessment (including physical risk assessment) and physical management of patients, support colleagues with physical monitoring and management relating to the patient’s eating disorder, attend MDT reviews, and assess and treat co-morbid health conditions within the scope of their competencies.

There will be a service development aspect to this role and varied teaching opportunities, and, consequently, an interest in service development and teaching is sought. A comprehensive induction programme will be provided to the successful candidate. Given the nature of this job, it is anticipated that the successful candidate may benefit from continuous professional development relevant to their role in this subspecialty and this will be actively prioritised. Specialty-specific peer supervision is available via the North of Scotland MCN for Eating Disorders and national network arrangements.

Candidates wishing to discuss the role are encouraged to contact Dr Paula Collin, the Lead Clinician for TEDS (paula.collin@nhs.scot).  Dr David Shaw, Associate Medical Director for Dundee (david.shaw@nhs.scot) may be contacted with regard to wider opportunities in primary care or to discuss wider GP supports.
